I intend to create the site,
I intend to create the site, including blogs, forums, articles, and a variety of RSS newsfeeds. I first started using Joomla! Found to be a bit cumbersome, and did not record the whole experience. In fact, I have figured out how to use a specific component / module / plug-in, it would have been faster for me, has written to its own in PHP.

absolutely a beginner will give this a try... let's see what will come of it.
Drupal doesn't have a direct business directory module
So far I haven't seen a single business directory module compatible to drupal 6 and 7 ..something on these lines will defintely boosts drupal market place.
A very good tutorial source
After over 25 years of professional software engineering experience - C/C++ - I am quite insistent in well documented code. However, my migration from embedded systems to internet technologies has been smooth until I came across CMS. The site I intended to build simply consisted of Blogs, Forums, Articles and various RSS newsfeeds. I initially began with Joomla! and found the whole experience somewhat cumbersome and not very well documented. In fact, by the time I had figured out how to use a particular Component/Module/Plugin it would have been quicker for me to have written it myself in PHP!
After reviewing Drupal I am now developing the site with version 7.x. on a Ubuntu 10.10 Debian Linux box and it is a breeze/joy compared to Joomla - even with the core modules provided.
Your tutorials are excellent - there are no other words for them.
I commend you on the time and effort you have obviously spent authoring them.
Thank you.
Gerald.
